I am a board certified psychiatrist with a broad range of skills and special expertise in consultation-liaison (C-L) psychiatry, which focuses on the mental health needs of patients with co-occurring medical problems such as cancer, HIV and COVID-19. I have helped patients cope with everything from depression, anxiety and relationship problems to “brain fog” from chemotherapy. I offer both therapy and medication management, either alone or in combination, as appropriate for each patient. I strive to be both a good listener and a skilled expert who collaborates with patients to problem solve in the real world.
I have an eclectic background for an MD, having majored in literature at Yale, earned an MBA at Columbia and worked in finance for many years before medical school, residency and fellowship training. I received my medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, and completed my psychiatry residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai-St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. I also completed a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Prior to entering private practice, I served as Chief of Psychiatry and Director of the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital, part of the Northwell Health System, where I oversaw the development and implementation of innovative psychiatric programs and services including bedside telehealth for psychiatry consults to provide extended coverage. During this time, I had extensive experience working with patients experiencing acute and chronic neuropsychiatric and emotional symptoms related to COVID-19 infection.
I have had the privilege of helping patients from a wide variety of backgrounds, and I strive to be inclusive and welcoming to patients of all races, ethnic and cultural groups, sexualities and gender identities.
